I woke up and did the regular morning routine. I was definitely sad to be leaving as Bob, Alexis, and I were having such a wonderful time. Bob was kind of enough to take me on some errands as I wanted to pick up a couple things before I left, mainly another pair of socks for these hiking boots and another shirt.
After our rounds around Redwood City, we came back to the crib. As I was packing, Bob was busy preparing a grilled chicken sandwich with fresh pesto, tomato, and appropriate accoutrements.
After filling up on the delicious food, Bob dropped be off at the airport. After breezing through security, I sat at the gate and waited to get to LA.
The flight was super short, less than an hour (as compared to a 5 hour drive). I arrived at LAX and immediately thought of Dr. Dre, The Game, Snoop, Anderson. Paak, the LA race riots, and all of the Pan-Asian migration that came through both SF and LA.
I got to Bryan Ovalle’s spot before he got home from work. Ovalle and I go way back in HS, I had met him when on the track team, and from there our friendship flourished. Ovalle used to have roommates in the past, and on this occasion, my man was in a freshly constructed building with a 1BD/1BR apartment. The bathroom could easily be another bedroom, let’s be real.
After we got cleaned up, we chopped it up on the couch for a bit, finding out the little details that we’ve missed out on since we last got together during the Christmas holiday. It was really lovely.
He had made reservations at Perch, this restaurant in downtown LA with incredible city views. In truth, it really reminded me of Austin and the rooftop restuarants/bars, however, this rooftop was much higher than anything I had experienced while living in the ATX.
We went to the bar as our outdoor table wasn’t ready. They had Angels Envy Rye (I forgot to include an earlier detail that one of my closest friends introduced me to this whiskey while at his beach house the previous weekend), so, you know, that. Ovalle got a Hendricks and tonic and we simply sat back and inhaled the scenery.
Once our table was ready we popped out. Oh, this spot also had an incredible live band, playing classics and some originals. The whole vibe was fantastic.
Also, we had many the hambre as it was getting to be around 10:30PM. Moreover, I still hadn’t adjusted to the Cali time (3 hours doesn’t seem like a lot, but it was surely messing with me). We ordered a charcuterie board, arugula and beet salad, salmon, and steak frites. We had just enough time to post up for a photo opportunity.

It took a bit of fortitude, but the food was handled and we had an after dinner drink before heading home. After all of the food and drank, we promptly went to sleep, I didn’t even remember falling asleep.
