SF, Day 2 – 26.06.18 –

So we knocked out, and I woke up fairly early. Got some morning yoga and meditation in, and then Bob and I stepped out for a hike after the first WC game of the day and some morning tea/coffee.

Air was incredibly crisp and cool. Walking around in Redwood City area brings a weird sensation of being simultaneously cool and warm, yet not hot nor cold. We walked along the shoreline for a bit and got in those FitBit steps. There was really nice ‘brush’ flowers lining the small cliffs that fell to the sand below.

Shortly thereafter we checked out another spot with a small uphill hike. Incredible views. The seabreeze driven cool winds were allllmost cold, yet kept you cool as you walked, rather stood, on this hill taking in the view.

After allllll of the exercises (ha) we determined we needed some freshmen’s. Bob took me to this local brewery that had these amazing chips and salsa (they fried the flour to make their own crispity chips) with some habanero salsa. I sampled a couple of the beers and we took some growlers to go. The beer was incredibly cheap too, surprising for the quality as well as SF area.

We came back to Bob’s place to watch Argentina beat Nigeria and maintain a spot in the WC. We, slash Bob, procured a bottle of Whistle Pig 12 Year Cask Strength. We proceeded to open that up to pass the time until Alexis came home after work.

The original plan was to go to Tony’s in SF, voted #1 pizza in the world for several years. As Bob and I were sippin’ and chattins, Alexis was smart enough to look up Tony’s and find that it was closed for the evening. Dumbfounded, bemused, and partially intoxicated, we decided to step out locally in Redwood City.

What a great decision. We ended up doing a quasi ruta de tapas and sampled beverages and small plates and several local spots. One establishment had Angel’s Envy Rye, so, yea, that. The below was probably mid first round. Bob’s faces always make me laugh.

We checked out a wine bar then settled on an ‘Italian’ place to eat our last bite. We made it back to their place, and promptly went to sleep. Also I forgot to mention that Bob and Alexis got these Calvin Klein super ridiculous sheets. It was like sleeping in/on/behind/underneath a cloud. Instantaneously knocked out.
