Forgot to mention that, last night after dinner and heading back to the hostel, it was SO WINDY. Like, I couldn’t hear things windy. I was going to walk the 13 minutes, but the level of wind and a $5 Uber price with a 4 minute ride convinced me otherwise.
Woke up periodically beginning at around 7AM, and finally got moving at 9:30AM. Felt a little groggy, and after chatting with some roommates, went upstairs to a quiet nook to get in the Y&M.
Got showered and was talking to my one roommate left, Harry from England, about the day’s plans. I was planning on a bite to eat, finding a café to get some (read: this) writing done, and then heading out to dinner, with no definitive plans after. I asked him if he wanted to join, and he was up for it!
We went to this place called Americanos Breakfast. Legit felt like an American diner. Little smaller though, understandable. I got two eggs sunny side up, some bacon, hashbrowns, and Harry got the farmers breakfast a-la Arby’s – it had THE MEATZ.
Ok, also, today’s weather is something else. Never experienced howling wind and rain like this (image of Ollie and the Blackuweather Forecast courtesy of Tenor). They say that WLG is ‘Windy Wellington”, and they wasn’t playing. Even looking outside right now there are still howling winds, though the rain may have calmed down? Got some coffee from Felix’s Cafe with Harry (Sidenote: I look kind of creepy in this photo? Don’t know what I was thinking, perhaps I wasn’t?).

Spoke with David at this coffee spot and he was super helpful in recommending some spots to check out. Got some writing done, and came to QBA Café to finish up. Now I’m pretty thrilled that y’all are more or less caught up with everything that’s been happening.
It was pissing outside as they would say down here as I left the café and went on the way to dinner.
Went to Boulcott Street Bistro, menu seemed pretty good. Nice little home that was converted into a restaurant. Got a little wet on the way in, nothing a Bookers and then glass of chardonnay couldn’t fix. Got this ravioli to start, then the pan seared fish. Decent, but not as good as previous meals and not deserving of the price tag.
Afterwards, popped out to Reading Cinema to watch the second Ant Man. First, the whole set up is a little different. They do reserved seating which was nice, and their previews were way different. Biggest thing I noticed was that they claimed Dolby, but it wasn’t Dolby. My ears weren’t angry at me during that intro sequence. additionally, they had an advert for Crazy Rich Asians. So many things here. I’m glad we’ve made it to have movies made about ‘us’ (read: pan-Asians), but this looks poorly done, on top of the seemingly benign stereotypical tropes it will reinscribel.
Then, there was an advert for teachers and being thankful/appreciative. That assuaged the lack of Dolby for sure. Movie was good, too!
Left the theater to…more rain! Sumit, Uber driver, said that police had already issued warnings to not leave your place unless utterly necessary tomorrow due to potential flooding. Sumit said that our Rea would be fine though. Got back to the hostel, finished this post, and about to knock out, goodnight everyone!
