DEL, IND – Day 1 – 10.08.18 –

The following morning I woke up early so that I’d be able to spend some time with Anna in the morning before he went to work. I got up and moving at around 6:30AM and wrapped up Y&M at around 8:30AM. Came out and was ready to chat the morning away!

Came into the kitchen and Manni made me coffee again. So good!

Anna came out and we were chatting about our time together and plans for next year’s visit.

After he left to go to work, I got to packing. I got everything re-organized and ready to go. Finished packing in about 45 minutes, took a quick rinse, and then put the finishing touches on before getting ready to head out.

I said goodbye to Manni and Padma, and hopped in the Uber to head to the airport. Driver was really nice, and the traffic was…trafficy.

In going to the airport, you drive through the largest slum in the world. This place was massive! You really cannot describe it. Most dwellings are scraps of metal put together, the interior being a mirror reflection of the exterior. YET, you would see satellite dishes, and Manni also told me that they’ll have air conditioning as well! She also said that the slum produces between 4-5 crore of goods/services daily! That’s between $550K and $735K a day!

Got to the airport and Manni was particularly interested in what I thought. This terminal of the airport was beautiful! It really reminded me to Kuala Lumpur’s airport (did I mention that in a previous post?). Smooth transitions and everything through security, and I got to my gate (with some curd rice before hand J).

Got on the plane to New Delhi and had a solid nap!

We arrived and I collected my things and found my driver who would take me to The Hans. The traffic was crazy and it took a little over 90 minutes to get to the hotel.

Now, given my previous experience in the fort area of Mumbai, I was slightly worried. However, Manni and Athai both said that I would be fine, and this hotel was wonderful! Walked into the room that was actually a room that felt clean and comfortable. Did a Y&M and felt at ease.

Got cleaned up and made my way down to the restaurant to eat. I selected the dal tadka and butter naan. So so good! Also got some yogurt, but it wasn’t as good.

Went back up to the room, chilled for a bit, and then got tucked into bed around 10:30/11:00PM, ready for the next day’s adventure!
